Day Trip in Positano and Sorrento

Like many out there, we just can’t get enough of the Gulf of Naples. From Naples to Pompeii and Pompeii to one of Italy’s most popular destinations is where our next adventure takes us. Sorrento a beautiful township carved into the Bay, stands at the southern edge of the Gulf, looking back towards Naples with an esteemed view of the volcano Pompeii.

Reaching the southern tip of the gulf and eventually making it over the hill towards amalfi is possible to travel in one day from Naples via the Porta Nolana Station. From there easily find a bus to Positano in the Sorrento Station. Just a little over an hour away, and you can wake up early the next day to the renown views Amalfi coast is known for.

Positano

It is easy to be mesmerized by the beauty of the center of Positano. It seemingly has everything that a luxury coastal town could need to offer its travelers. Clothes, antiques, lemon flavored treats under canopies of hanging flowers, exquisite dining… you name it. However, it would be a shame if you didn’t at least take a look around the coast to see what the area has to offer! Take a boat ride to really get a stunning view of town.

While facing the Sea far off to the right side of the beach you will find a twisting path way that past the harbor.

The path is called Via Positanesi Di America. Here you can stroll through a lush ravine to the other, probably lesser known beach in Positano. These hidden, small pathways are really gives these coastal towns a unique touch and provides even more spectacular views of the coast in the distance. It is less crowded so makes a perfect spot for so trying to get away from the commotion and just relax by the water or take a walk, listening to the waves scouring for seashells.

Sorrento

This charming town is known for its stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, delicious food, and rich history. Here are a few things you can do during your visit:

Take a leisurely stroll through the winding streets of Sorrento's historic center, where you'll find charming squares, churches, and boutiques. Don't miss the Piazza Tasso, the main square of Sorrento, which is home to the Cathedral of Sorrento and the Chiostro di San Francesco, a beautiful cloister. Sorrento is also known for its delicious food, so be sure to try some of the local specialties during your visit. Some must-try dishes include limoncello, a lemon-flavored liqueur; babà, a small, spongy cake soaked in rum; and scialatielli ai frutti di mare, a type of pasta with seafood.
